diy scarf print shorts

my grandma has a drawer full of scarves. she never wears them. I wanted to dip my toe in the scarf print waters. this + the weekend = really easy diy project.

materials: paper scissors, fabric scissors, tissue or tracing paper, pins, a pair of shorts, two scarves of the same size, a felt tip pen or chalk, thin elastic.

trace round a folded over pair of shorts to create a pattern.

cut (adding an inch for a seam allowance).

pin on the fold of your scarf (x2) and cut out.

your two pieces will look like this.

pin (right sides together) along the curved edges of your pieces.

sew.

iron along the seams.

pin and sew together the straight edges to create your legs.

fold over (about an inch) and pin the top of the shorts to create the waistband.
sew, leaving a one inch gap between stitching.

thread elastic (measured to to required tightness) through the waistband using a safety pin.
sew ends together and evenly distribute fabric.
